Discussion – Q&A - Emeritus Professor Clyde Morgan & Director João da Costa Pinto
CCCADI will be showing a documentary celebrating the work and life of Clyde Morgan - teacher, researcher, dancer and choreographer, who for 10 years taught and was Artistic Director and Choreographer of the Contemporary Dance Group, the Dance School of the Federal University of Bahia.
Director
João da Costa Pinto has worked as a sound designer, and editor of image and sound, for cinema and television films in Munich since the early 90s, after studying filmmaking and editing in Lisbon. Throughout his filmmaking career in Europe, João da Costa Pinto held firmly to the Afro-Bahian culture of his hometown, Santo Amaro da Purificação, Bahia - an old sugar town. From many conversations with master Clyde Morgan about his participation and influence in the Afro-Brazilian cultural scene in Bahia beginning in the 1970s, the idea of recording and telling this journey of transformation and exchange emerged and culminated in this, João’s first documentary.
