Hello Educators! The Education Department of CCCADI cordially invites you to attend our “Freedom Summer” professional development series for educators entitled Culture, Curriculum & Consciousness: Preparing our Children for the 21st Century. As we approach the end of our “Freedom Summer” revitalized by Juneteenth celebrations across the nation, the demands of liberation and safety for Black bodies, and the inspiration we take from Black August history & observances, we welcome all educators committed to the successful learning of our children in preparation for their unstoppable futures. Both sessions are free. 

Join us on Wednesdays, August 5th & 12th, 2020- 6:00pm - 8:00pm via ZOOM. Each virtual session in the series is limited to the first 50 registrants. Please register at the following link:

Guest Presenter & Master Educator, Kaba Hiawatha Kamene, will conduct two sessions related to such thematic topics as the foundations of learning. The themes range from (w)holistic teaching methodologies to connecting and utilizing the early foundations of the African presence in historical societies to create viable lesson planning activities for your classroom.

Kaba Hiawatha Kamene received his Bachelors’ Degree in International Politics from New York University, with a minor in Caribbean Studies (June77). He earned his first Masters of Art in World History from Hunter College, N.Y. (June 87) and he received his second Masters of Science in Educational Administration and Supervision, from City College of New York (Feb.88). 

Kaba Hiawatha has been a Pan-African, African-centered educator, consultant, administrator, staff developer and curriculum writer for over 40 years. He taught every grade level (PreK-12) in the New York City Department of Education for over 31 years (Oct 1979-Jul 2009) and has been a college professor in the Black Studies department at the State University of New York at New Paltz for 12 years (Fall 2004-Spring 2016)

His greatest experiences have been his many classroom visitations around the world and implementing successful strategies in the teaching/ learning process. He is firmly dedicated to the belief that culture plays a vitally important role in education and he credits many of his academic views to his teacher, world- renowned educator, Professor John Henrik Clarke.

Kaba Hiawatha is the creator, Principal Facilitator and Chief Executive Officer of the African-Centered Science Academy, “Per Ankh (Temple/House of Life)”. The Per Ankh is now a feature in the Kemetic Wisdom School at www.shockmetaphysics.com.
