Range: $70,000 - $75,000

Job Overview: The Director of Arts Education is responsible for the management and development of CCCADI’s overall arts education program which includes family public programs, teen programs, in-school/community organization partnerships, and staff/teaching artist trainings. In consultation with CCCADI’s executive level, will set the vision, goals, and plans for the CCCADI Arts Education Department.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for serving as a key member of the management staff, contributing to the overall institutional growth and development of the organization.

  • Responsible for supervising and managing two departmental staff of one senior manager, one education associate.

  • Responsible for developing and promoting new content and program ideas in line with the overall mission of CCCADI.

  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating external research and evaluation to gather data and develop program quality controls. Assist development department with content for grant proposals and reports.

  • Responsible for developing key family public programs, along with assisting with adult public programs planning for structured CCCADI yearly calendar of activities.

  • Responsible for acting as the secondary contact for the education department, answering or referring to appropriate staff education-related phone, email and mail inquiries. Administrative duties as needed.

  • Responsible for assisting with other programs as needed, working with colleagues throughout the Arts Education Department and CCCADI, including family, youth, and teacher programs. May assist in workshops for teachers and the writing of teaching and interpretive materials related to CCCADI’s exhibitions.

  • Responsible for implementing interpretive plans inclusive of the widest possible communities in collaboration with Public Programs.

  • Responsible for serving as a spokesperson for the Center’s arts education programs, including but not limited to presenting at conferences, panels, writing and publishing, and speaking with representatives of the media as necessary.

  • Responsible for supporting grant writing efforts, and grant reporting, as well as with the development and executive team on stewardship of philanthropic supporters of arts education.

  • Responsible for working with the Center’s Communications and New Media team to promote and market the educational programs through web, social media, and print sources.


PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A. required; Master’s degree preferred

  • At least 5 years experience in arts education, arts administration, museum education studies or related field

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in managing and training staff

  • High-performing arts administrator, reflective thinker, and possesses excellent relationship-building skills

  • Knowledge of, and proven skills in principles and practices of museum and arts education, curriculum development, research and evaluation

  • Experience with grant writing and knowledge of NYC city agencies, including NYCDOE, DYCD, and DCLA.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Apple, and Google Drive systems

  • Proficient knowledge of Spanish, highly desirable, French, Portuguese and/or Kreyol also an advantage

  • Deep knowledge of anti-racism and gender equity practices

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively as an active team member

  • Knowledgeable and welcoming to a diverse work culture and youth program

  • Strong organizational skills and analytical ability

  • Strong work ethic and professional values

  • Commitment to promoting CCCADI’s social justice mission, educational and youth development philosophy and content

  • Experienced in building and maintaining external relations on multiple levels

  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout NYC

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
